Start-up to scale-up · Multiple engagement phases

Senior support that grew with the business, without a permanent commitment.

An initial search advertising project soon after the company was founded grew into a relationship spanning about eight years, across five or six distinct phases and changing roles.

Project impact

Senior experience matched to each growth stage.

During that period, the business developed from a newly founded start-up into a company with substantial multimillion-euro revenue.

Across five or six defined phases, I contributed where setup, scaling, leadership or strategic advice was most useful.

Starting point

The need changed with each stage of growth.

The early work involved initial search advertising accounts and campaigns. Later came in-house capability, larger budgets, more teams and new coordination needs.

Rather than retain a permanent external role, the company brought in senior support when setup, scaling, leadership or a temporary bridge mattered most.

My responsibility

Six roles over a long working relationship.

My responsibility changed by phase, from hands-on setup to leadership and strategic guidance.

  • Built and developed search advertising structures
  • Managed accounts hands-on
  • Scaled existing activity
  • Provided interim team leadership and coaching
  • Managed external agencies
  • Offered senior advice and covered capacity gaps

The working model

Create impact. Leave stronger systems behind.

Each engagement was shaped by what would contribute most at that stage of the business.

01

Build a foundation

The first accounts and campaigns established a working search advertising base.

02

Hand over ownership

Operational work was later handed to the first in-house search advertising manager.

03

Return when growth changes the task

New scaling, leadership and capacity questions triggered further defined phases.

04

Strengthen the in-house team

Each phase built internal capability and systems for the next stage.

The outcome

Senior continuity with flexible capacity.

About 8 yearsbetween the first and later phases
5–6separate engagement phases

Repeated collaboration combined existing context with new requirements quickly.

Each phase had a clear remit and strengthened internal structures for what came next.

Good external senior support creates results and leaves the organization stronger for its next phase.
